Mission
Compassion Med International
(CMI) is a non-profit, Christian organization whose purpose is to
provide short-term medical relief around the world. We believe this statement by St. Paul:
For we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which HE prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10
Our March 2011 Honduras trip was very intense for the whole team. We saw
and treated over 1600+ people at multiple sites and delivered much needed
supplies, clothes and toys to the Iglesia Misioneria de Christo and the main hospital. We also did some home visits
for treatment and the delivery of food packets which were very needed. A special thanks to Dr. Jared Weiss, M.D. of UNC oncology for his valuable efforts. The picture above is our Honduran coordinator Pastor Moises of Iglesia Misionera de Cristo in Tegucigalpa. He is holding Gabriel, a poor child with hydrocephalus that the church has been supporting.
We have made medical relief trips to Honduras, Romania,
Transnistria, New Orleans and the West Bank. Our volunteers often
have medical backgrounds, but non-medical people are welcome as
well. For many volunteers, these trips can be a life changing
experience. CompassionMed wants to thanks its very generous supporters which include Grace Church of Chapel Hill, NC and Triangle Presbyterian Church of Durham, NC. Also, we want to thank the University of North Carolina and their support of this Nurse Practioner service learning program.
